my interest in psych ;)

The branch of psychology that I am most interested in would definitely have to be Clinical Psychology. Clinical psych has to do with the continuing and comprehensive behavioral and mental health care for families and individuals. This branch includes all ages, varied systems, and multiple diversities.

So some of y'all probably don't know what clinical psych has to do with since you didn't research this branch so I'll help ya out ;) Basically clinical has a lot to it with lots of diverse topics such as mental illnesses, abnormal behavior, geriatrics, substance abuse, and psychiatric disorders.

Now in order to become a psychologist in the first place is obviously some college, but in order to specialize in a certain branch, you have to attend a graduate program. With going the clinical psych route, getting a doctorate in Psychology is a must to have a well off job in my opinion. There are plenty of jobs that a Clinical Psych degree potentially could give you. Working in places like social service agencies, private practices, clinics, hospitals, drug and alcohol treatment centers, skilled nursing facilities, schools or research labs. Basically as a clinical psychologist, you help people recover from traumatic illnesses such as brain conditions, chronic illnesses, or even spinal injuries.

A well known clinical psychologist that probably most people overlook is Kay Redfield Jamison and when I say overlooked it is mainly because she is a woman. She is most known for her research and work with bipolar disorder and experience with having bipolar disorder herself. With her being bipolar, she understands first hand how it affects the mental and abnormal behavior it entitles.

I think the reason I'm interested in this branch of psychology would have to be because when I finish medical school (that meaning I actually get in..lol), I'm striving to a neurosurgeon and I want to be able to help those kids or adults who have brain or spine deficiencies and help them. I believe that knowing how to interact with people like that is important especially with specializing in neurology. With working with kids or adults and see them getting better even the slightest would just be heart warming.
